Doulas accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience.  A doula draws upon her knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and information needed to make informed decisions as they arise in labor.  A dola can provide reassurance and perspective to the laboring woman and her partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort.  A doula is independent and self- employed.  She works for you, and not your care provider or hospital.
